A break in the groove, about a year long. What have I been doing with my time? Not this.

I mentioned yesterday in a regular post that I am a huge geology geek.
Last spring when I was pregnant took a geology lab course in rock &
mineral identification. Even when I was 8 months and ready to explode
I still went in every Wednesday and sat in front of a nice tray of things
like pyrite. Man, I love pyrite. Anyway, the post yesterday reminded me
of it and I started looking for things made of the fools gold. Which made
me start looking for things made of sequins. And so on... I feel like I had
to share, in case you thought this was inspired by a certain football team.

Because winter can suck the life out of your soul, sometimes it's all you can do to keep from smothering yourself with your pillow while you're trying to stay in bed all day (by the way, to all of you who can still, sometimes, stay in bed all day --- EAT ME), I've been constantly looking for some way to cheer me up and feel like I'm getting something done. Even if it's accomplishing tiny, unimportant tasks.

This here blog is something I like to look at and imagine I came up with it myself, as a quiet and simple way to unwind and feel like my proverbial "artist pen" is still wet with it's proverbial "creative ink."

She may have created Color Collective "as a designer's resource for color," but I like to go here to unwind a little and enjoy the view. Lauren Willhite is just so good at pairing nice photos with their palettes.

I just love this stuff, and the color. Please check out these shops,

Thwarted by Anthropologie again. This pretty little thing isn't available anymore, but I'm going to go ahead and guess it was...$160? $200? What do you think?

Wallpaper (samples above) is one of those things you try not to think about if you rent apartments. It's really tempting, though absurdly impractical for people like me to wallpaper anything

It's also one of those things that smells of financial stability. I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps it goes hand-in-hand with the notion of standing still - not running from place to place. Or, you know, involving yourself with landlords and security deposits.

Still, I've started a Someday Collection that might actually get used when we settle down. Someday.

Here is some more wall paper I will never afford.
